Minolta XG-9 camera with 50mm f1.7 lens. Fantastic Starter Camera
This is in great condition Fully tested and cleaned. A really great camera, very comfortable to hold - perfect for those just getting into film photography!
In late 1979 Minolta revealed the XG-S. Outside Japan, this model was known as XG 9, and with its improvements, it addressed some weak points of the XG-E, which it replaced. Both bodies were available in chrome or black finish.
Body and features
The XG-S has all the features of the XG-E, but with some changes:
The viewfinder shows the set aperture at the bottom
A stop down button is added
The new and much brighter "Acute Matte" focusing screen replaced the fresnel field screen
Minolta MD 50mm f1.7 lens is nice and fast. A nice feature is the Touch Switch (much lauded in the 70’s), where the moment your finger rests on the shutter button, the electronics inside the viewfinder light up and give a reading. This display lasts for about 15 seconds, then winks out, saving the battery.
